Authorities have apprehended a 21-year-old son and a nephew in relation to the incident. The woman’s body was found draped with a sheet and a blanket.
Police and an EKAB ambulance responded to the scene on Leonidou Street, with a forensic examiner expected to arrive shortly.
The murder took place around 5 a.m. and was discovered in the afternoon after the two young men attempted to move the body but were spotted by neighbors, who alerted the police. Reports indicate that while the nephew wasn’t involved in the murder, he assisted his cousin in trying to conceal and transport the body. The mother and son had moved into the house on Leonidou Street about three months prior.
“I heard a noise and went outside to see the police. Later, I learned it was a murder. I don’t know the family well, but I often saw them walking their dogs. She was a calm, quiet woman who never caused any trouble. It was heartbreaking to see a mother leave her son’s hands… It gave me chills,” recounted a local resident.
“Someone notified the authorities, and the DIAS team quickly arrived and took them into custody. They found them right away,” said another resident.
