The Central Greece Motorway E65 is set to be completed and opened to traffic by the first half of 2026. Currently, construction is underway on the final 46 kilometers in the northern section of the road.
Stretching 182.1 km, the E65 is one of Greece’s key national initiatives, with an estimated budget of approximately 1.4 billion euros. Managed by TERNA, the motorway will feature two lanes of traffic in each direction, plus an emergency lane. It will be built along a new route that connects Eastern and Western Greece, with a junction to Egnatia Odos at Grevena.
The new segments of the E65, expected to be completed by April 2024, will provide 136 km of modern, safe motorway, linking the E/C with the A.T.E. motorway (206.5 km) to the Kalambaka A/C. This will ensure quick and easy access to popular tourist spots like Meteora, Lake Plastira, Karpenisi, and Trikala, while fostering new development opportunities in the region.
TERNA is overseeing the construction of the last 46 km of the northern section, starting from the Kalambaka A/K and extending to Egnatia Odos west of Grevena. This project has two central and two supporting facilities, employing 780 staff and utilizing 440 pieces of machinery and trucks.
As of March 2025, the overall construction progress for the northern section stands at 72.77%.
