A significant heatwave is anticipated to impact much of the country over the next few days, with temperatures peaking from Thursday to Sunday.
While this four-day period will see the highest temperatures, elevated heat conditions will continue until Wednesday, June 11, creating intense heat across various regions, as noted by Thodoros Kolydas.
According to the meteorologist, temperatures in Attica are expected to reach 35 to 36°C, while some inland areas may see temperatures rise even higher, reaching up to 37°C. The hottest readings will be found in the interior of the mainland, where the sea breeze is less effective as a natural cooling factor. Meanwhile, coastal regions will experience maximum temperatures that are 3-4 degrees lower.
However, evening hours are expected to bring a satisfying drop in minimum temperatures.
Weather forecast for Wednesday, as per the National Weather Service:
Generally clear skies are expected, with some local clouds possibly forming in the continental highlands during midday and afternoon hours, where isolated rainfall may occur in central and northern areas. Early morning visibility may be reduced in some parts of the Ionian Sea and the western mainland. Winds will be blowing from the north at speeds of 3 to 5 Beaufort, reaching 6 Beaufort locally in the southeast.
Temperatures are expected to rise slightly, reaching 27 to 29 degrees Celsius in the islands, around 30 degrees in the east, and between 31 to 33 degrees Celsius on the mainland, with some spots hitting 34 degrees Celsius.
