Today, the weather in Greece is expected to be mostly clear, with a few clouds developing over the mainland in the afternoon. Localized rain and isolated thunderstorms may occur in the mountainous areas.
Temperatures will experience a slight decline, especially in the east, reaching 28°C in the Cyclades and between 31°C to 34°C elsewhere in the country, with some western mainland regions hitting 35°C to 36°C.
According to meteorologist Yannis Kalianos, northern winds are set to intensify today, reaching up to 8 Beaufort in the Aegean Sea. This will coincide with:
- High temperatures persisting from previous days,
- Low humidity contributing to fire risks,
- Strong wind gusts of 7-8 Beaufort for nearly the next 8-10 days,
- A lack of rainfall in the impacted areas.
These conditions pose a significant risk for the outbreak and spread of wildfires across various regions of the country.
Areas requiring immediate caution and heightened readiness include:
- Eastern Sterea (Fthiotida, Boeotia, Attica) and parts of Fokida (Central Sterea),
- Central and Southern Evia (with lesser concern for the North),
- Central and Eastern Peloponnese (Arcadia, Corinthia, Argolida, Laconia), and to a lesser extent, Messinia (Western Peloponnese),
- Cyclades,
- Islands of the Northeastern and Eastern Aegean,
- Sporades,
- Eastern, Southern, and Western Crete.
