Weather conditions in Greece are expected to shift dramatically in the coming days. According to the Hellenic National Meteorological Service (HNMS) and meteorologist Thodoris Kolydas, severe weather is predicted starting Friday, with the most intense effects occurring on Saturday, particularly affecting various regions including Attica.
In a social media update, Kolydas cautioned about significant instability on Friday and Saturday, but noted that conditions should improve afterward.

The temperature exceeded 31°C on Tuesday, May 27, with the highest reading of 31.6°C recorded at the Galaxidi meteorological station, closely followed by Stylida in Fthiotida and Krani in Argolis at 31.1°C. The map below illustrates maximum temperature distribution across Greece, based on data from the National Observatory of Athens’ network of weather stations.
Data indicates that 7 out of 539 active stations recorded temperatures over 30°C, while 305 stations (about 56%) exceeded 25°C. The average maximum temperature stood at 25.0°C, which is 2.4°C higher than on May 26 (22.6°C).

By noon, localized showers and thunderstorms are anticipated, primarily in central and southern mainland Greece, Eastern Macedonia, Thrace, the North Aegean, and mountainous regions of the mainland and Crete. Temperatures will range from 10 to 22°C in Western Macedonia; 10 to 28°C in other parts of Macedonia and Thrace; 17 to 29°C in Thessaly; 12 to 25°C in Epirus; 12 to 28°C in Central Greece and the Peloponnese; 13 to 25°C in the Ionian Islands; 11 to 28°C in the North and East Aegean; 15 to 27°C in the Cyclades; 19 to 25°C in the Dodecanese; and 13 to 28°C in Crete.
Winds in the Aegean will blow from the west to northwest at 3 to 5 Beaufort. In the Northeast Aegean, winds will vary from different directions at 2 to 4 Beaufort. In the Ionian Sea, winds will blow from the northwest at 3 to 5 Beaufort.
In Attica, local clouds will increase throughout the morning, accompanied by some rain. Winds will blow from the northwest at 2 to 4 Beaufort, turning variable up to 3 Beaufort by midday. The temperature in central Athens will range from 20 to 28°C.
In Thessaloniki, expect scattered clouds that may thicken at times. Winds from the northwest will be up to 3 Beaufort, strengthening to 4-5 Beaufort around noon and in the afternoon. The temperature in Thessaloniki will vary from 17 to 28°C.

Partly cloudy with temporary cloud cover increases initially in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, spreading to the Ionian, the rest of mainland Greece, and the mountainous areas of Crete, gradually reaching the eastern islands. Local rain and isolated thunderstorms are expected from noon in the Ionian, mainland Greece, and the mountainous areas of Crete and Euboea, continuing through the evening in the Sporades and Cyclades.
Winds will blow from the northwest at 3 to 5 Beaufort, with localized gusts of 6-7 Beaufort in the Ionian. Temperatures will remain largely unchanged, reaching between 25-27°C.

In the eastern regions, expect partly cloudy conditions with local rains and scattered thunderstorms. These phenomena will gradually diminish, primarily over Crete and the Dodecanese. In the rest of the country, expect a few clouds, with local increases in mountainous areas during midday and afternoon, along with isolated rain and thunderstorms.
Winds from the north to northwest will be at 3 to 5 Beaufort, with localized gusts of 6 Beaufort in the Ionian. Temperatures will slightly decrease.

Cloudy skies with local rain are expected in Crete and the Dodecanese until the afternoon. Elsewhere, generally clear weather will prevail at first, but clouds will develop in the mainland during midday and afternoon, especially in northern mountainous areas, where local rain and isolated thunderstorms may occur.
Winds from the northwest will be at 3 to 4 Beaufort, with localized gusts of 5 Beaufort. Temperatures are expected to rise slightly.

In Central Macedonia and Crete, expect cloudy conditions with local rain and isolated thunderstorms, mainly in Crete. Elsewhere, generally clear skies will develop, with clouds forming around midday and afternoon, particularly in central and southern areas, leading to local rain and possibly isolated storms in the mountains.
Winds will come from the north, with 3 to 4 Beaufort in the west, 4 to 5 in the east, and locally 6 to 7 Beaufort in the Aegean. Temperatures will see a slight increase, especially in the west.
