The case of a priest from Limnos underscores the vital importance of first aid knowledge. Father Nektarios Boulitsakis successfully saved the life of a 2-year-old boy who experienced a stroke in a village on the island. He performed CPR on the child, stating, “We live in an era where people feel lost even in crowded places.”

Father Nektarios serves in the Kontia parish and is a trained volunteer for the Red Cross Lemnos – Agios Efstratios Regional Department. He expressed appreciation for the Red Cross, highlighting the challenging times we live in: “It’s commendable what the Red Cross is doing, as people often feel lost among crowds,” he told limnofm100.gr.

When asked by the president of the Local Branch, “What were you doing at that moment?” Father Nektarios candidly replied, “I was doing two things at once: praying and performing CPR.” He prefers to downplay the incident, saying, “I’d rather not say more; our time seeks heroes.”

A Life Saved Through Quick Action

According to limnosfm100.gr, the event occurred about a month ago in a nearby village as the priest was out shopping.

While preparing to leave, a woman rushed out of her house, screaming that her child wasn’t breathing. The priest quickly entered the home, found the unconscious boy, and immediately began CPR. After reviving the child, the boy collapsed again, and Father Nektarios performed CPR once more, successfully bringing him back to consciousness. The child was subsequently taken to the hospital and is now in good health.
