The FBI is revisiting a widely discussed case upon the directive of the agency’s deputy director, Dan Bongino.
In a statement released on Monday through the platform X (formerly Twitter), Bongino announced that new investigations have commenced regarding the cocaine discovered in the White House during President Biden’s term in 2023.
This case ignited significant political controversy in the U.S. and remains a focal point in right-wing discussions.
Cocaine in the White House
The discovery of a small amount of cocaine in a storage area near the West Wing entrance of the White House in July 2023 prompted strong backlash from Republicans. Then-presidential candidate Donald Trump suggested it was “highly unlikely” that the drugs belonged to anyone other than Joe Biden or his son, Hunter Biden, even though the Biden family was not in Washington at the time.
The White House Press Secretary at the time deemed these allegations “incredibly irresponsible.” The initial investigation conducted by the Secret Service did not reveal any suspects.
Dan Bongino has asserted, without providing solid evidence, that he has been in touch with informants indicating that the fingerprint or DNA from the cocaine pouch could correlate with someone from the president’s inner circle.
Bongino mentioned he will receive weekly updates on the investigation’s progress, suggesting that the new FBI leadership is seeking a more robust inquiry into the issue.
