A 27-year-old man is in serious condition following an attempt to open the lid of a fuel tanker while smoking a cigarette, resulting in a massive explosion at a petroleum plant in Gaziantep, Turkey.
Explosion Captured on Security Cameras
The incident occurred in the city’s industrial area, where the man was reportedly trying to clean the inside of the tanker. With a lit cigarette in his mouth, he opened the tanker lid, inadvertently igniting flammable vapors.
This led to a violent explosion that propelled him several meters into the air, slamming him forcefully to the ground.
Colleagues on-site quickly came to his assistance and called for emergency services. He was then rushed to a hospital, where he is currently being treated for serious injuries.

The explosion was recorded by the facility’s security cameras, showcasing the shocking sequence of events. Authorities have yet to release an official statement concerning potential safety violations or any charges.
