Tsakos Energy Navigation (TEN) excels in key sectors of maritime transport. According to CEO Dr. Nikos Tsakos, the company has evolved “into an infrastructure company with long-term commitments.”
Recently, TEN has become the largest shuttle tanker operator worldwide, thanks to a strategic partnership with Transpetro for the construction of nine shuttle tankers. It also leads in dual-fuel vessels, boasting six active ships that are at the forefront of green shipping initiatives. Furthermore, TEN holds the title of the world leader in Ice-class vessels, having acquired nine specialized ships 15 years ago. Additionally, it serves as the largest tanker supplier for Equinor, the renowned Norwegian energy firm, following a strategic agreement established a decade ago.
Dr. Tsakos noted, “The first half of 2025 is projected to be the busiest in our history.” Since its inception in 1993, the company has shown continuous growth, navigating through various external challenges including the COVID-19 pandemic, the conflict in Ukraine, tensions in the Middle East, and new economic pressures on shipping such as taxes and tariffs.
Despite the cyclical nature of the shipping industry, TEN has maintained profitability for five consecutive years and successfully reduced its debt, which has never exceeded 60% of its assets.
