U.S. President Donald Trump met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the NATO Summit in The Hague.
According to the Turkish presidency’s communications office, Erdoğan “expressed his satisfaction with the ceasefire between Israel and Iran, crediting President Trump for these efforts. He hopes for its permanence and emphasized the need for dialogue to quickly resolve the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and to find a peaceful solution to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.”
During their discussion, Erdoğan also remarked that “the two nations have significant potential for cooperation in various sectors, particularly in energy and investments. He noted that enhancing collaboration in the defense industry could contribute to achieving a total bilateral trade volume of $100 billion.”
The statement from the Turkish presidency further highlighted that “as leading NATO allies, both leaders underscored the necessity of actions to bolster the Alliance’s deterrence capacity.”

During their meeting, they covered a range of bilateral, regional, and international topics.
This one-on-one meeting marked the first between the two presidents since Trump began his second term in January. It took place at 23:30 Greek time (22:30 Dutch time) yesterday (June 24th) and lasted approximately 45 minutes.
There was a warm atmosphere between the leaders, even during the NATO Summit group photo session.
