The US president recently took to his Truth Social account to assert that a peace agreement is “very close,” urging Zelensky to stop obstructing the process. “We are on the verge of a deal, but the individual with no leverage should now, at long last, take action,” stated Donald Trump.
“I am eager to assist Ukraine and Russia in extricating themselves from this absolute chaos that would never have escalated had I been in office!”
In the same post, Trump criticized Zelensky for remarks made to the Wall Street Journal, in which the Ukrainian leader stated that Ukraine would not consent to relinquish Crimea during peace discussions.
“No one is urging Zelensky to acknowledge Crimea as part of Russia, but if he has an interest in Crimea, why didn’t they fight for it eleven years ago when it fell to Russia without any resistance?”
