Traffic restrictions will be enforced on Sunday, May 18, due to the 42nd Marathon Peace March.
Expect traffic regulations from 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM along various roads in the municipalities of Marathon, Nea Makris, Rafina, Pikermio, Pallini, Gerakas, Anthousa, Agia Paraskevi, Halandriou, and Psychiko, as outlined below:
Marathonomachon-Agias Paraskevi: Closed between the Marathon mound and Marathonos Avenue from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM.
Marathonos Avenue: Closed from Marathonomachon-Agias Paraskevi Street to Dionysos Avenue from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM.
Marathonos Avenue: Closed from Dionysos Avenue to Aviaireia Street from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM.
Marathonos Avenue: Closed from Avia to Al. Fleming from 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM.
Marathon: Closed between A. Fleming and A. Fleming from 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM.
Marathonos Avenue: Closed from Al. Fleming to Aghios Christoforos (Pikermio-Marathon side road) from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
Marathonos Avenue: Closed from Ag. Christoforou Street (Pikermio-Marathon side road) to Ag. Demetriou Street (Ev. Poulaki) from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM.
Marathonos Avenue: Closed from Ag. Dimitriou (Ev. Poulaki) to Ethn. Antistaseos from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM.
Marathonos Avenue: Closed from Ethn. Antistaseos to Kleisthenous from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
From 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM, Messogeion Avenue will be closed between Kleisthenous and Halandriou streets.
Messogeion Avenue: Closed from Republic Avenue (Lt. H.E.M.) to Halandriou Street from 5:30 PM to 6:00 PM.
Messogeion Avenue: Closed from Democracy Avenue to Cyprus Street (Central Entrance of the Ministry of National Economy) from 6:00 PM to 6:30 PM.
Additonally, the vertical passage of vehicles along the route will be restricted, except at the following controlled junctions:
Marathonos & Dionysos streets,
L. Marathonos & Avtrovia,
L. Marathonos & Al. Fleming (Rafina intersection),
L. Marathonos & Kyani Akti,
Marathonos & Ag. Christoforou (Pikermio junction),
L. Marathonos & Ev. Poulakis (Monaxia junction),
Marathonos L. & Ethn. Antistasis (Pallini junction),
Marathonos L. & Lavrio – Kleisthenous (Stavros junction),
Messogeion & Halandriou L. (Ag. Paraskevi Square), and
Messogeion & Dimokratias L. (Pentagon).
Drivers are advised to avoid these roads, avenues, and squares during the specified times to minimize traffic issues.
