Images of utter devastation that starkly contrast with the environment of a European university have emerged from the so-called “self-managed canteen of the Law School.” This location, along with another area at the University of Athens, was evacuated by the police yesterday morning.
Officers from the Sub-Division for Combating Racist and Extremist Violence, accompanied by a representative from the judicial authorities, conducted a visit to the Law School as part of a broader investigation aimed at identifying those responsible for a violent incident that left a post-doctoral student severely injured two weeks prior.
During the operation, police uncovered materials related to the assault, including fire extinguishers, gloves, binders, and more.

The police subsequently evacuated the area, which was returned to the university administration.
It is noteworthy that this location had previously been vacated by police a year ago, having been occupied since 2012. Reports indicate that the re-occupation occurred after the University of Athens administration allowed the Law School cafeteria to be used by unrelated groups.
In a police operation conducted in May 2024, 28 individuals were arrested for their involvement in the occupation, many of whom showed support for terrorist organizations. These individuals were not affiliated with the university. During the occupation, they organized assemblies and parties that disrupted student life and caused damage to the premises.
