An astonishing event took place early Sunday morning in Thessaloniki, where an 11-month-old infant was found alone on an apartment balcony while his parents slept soundly inside.
This incident came to light during a police patrol in the city center. The officers heard the baby’s cries and were taken aback to find him by himself on a fourth-floor balcony. The apartment’s balcony doors were closed, and the parents were fast asleep inside with their three other children.
Officers from the Crime Investigation and Detection Department arrested the child’s 36-year-old father and 35-year-old mother, both Bulgarian nationals, for endangering a minor.
In their defense, the parents stated they had placed the infant on the balcony “to cool off.”
