The Ministry of Development has opened public consultation on the Strategic Environmental Impact Study for the Special Spatial Development Strategic Investment Plan, involving a budget of 250 million for Grivalia Hospitality’s project on Megalonisos in Petalion, Evia. Megalonisos is the largest island in the Petalion archipelago and can only be accessed by private boats from Marmaris.
Grivalia Hospitality, known for properties like One & Only Aesthesis in Glyfada and Amanzoe in Porto Heli, is developing a luxury tourism complex in collaboration with the international brand Six Senses.
Six Senses Megalonisos will feature 75 hotel rooms and 20 branded residences available on a timeshare basis. The planned resort will include 20 luxury holiday homes, along with independent ground-floor and cave structures, complemented by 75 hotel villas situated on the ground floor. The project aims to extend the tourist season by ensuring the facility operates for more months each year, preventing the area from feeling abandoned during off-peak times.
The proposed development divides the intervention area into two main zones: Zone A, approximately 520 stremmas, designated primarily for Tourism and Recreation, and Zone B, about 40 stremmas, categorized as a Natural Landscape and Environmental Protection Zone, which includes forested areas where construction is not allowed.
