US Secretary of State Marco Rubio issued a warning today that Syria may be on the brink of a “nationwide civil war,” just days after US government leaders met with Syria’s transitional authorities.
“We believe that the transitional authority, given its current challenges, could face collapse in a matter of weeks, if not months, leading to a large-scale civil war and the potential disintegration of the country,” Rubio told the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
