Antonis Samaras has launched a direct critique of the government following the recent ruling by the CoE concerning same-sex couples. Specifically, the Plenary of the Supreme Council of State approved marriage for same-sex couples yesterday, as introduced by Law 5089/2024, which also extends adoption rights to same-sex married couples.
The former prime minister stated that the government is “hiding and lying,” labeling the decision a “significant blow to the traditional family.”
In his detailed statement, Antonis Samaras remarked: “Yesterday’s decision by the CoE permitting the adoption of children by same-sex couples validates my concerns raised in Parliament.
I had cautioned that this outcome was inevitable while the government concealed the truth and misled the Greek populace. This is a substantial blow to the traditional family.
