The “Piraeus II” Floating Dock in Perama’s Ship Repair Zone is Now Fully Operational, Reports Piraeus Port Authority SA.
After undergoing significant upgrades, the floating dock has received a five-year certification from a recognized ship registry and has already commenced operations with the ferry ‘Posidon’.
Measuring 113 meters in length and 18.5 meters in internal width, the dock can lift vessels weighing up to 4,000 tons and accommodate ships with a transport capacity of 7,000 tons.
This return to service is part of the management’s development plans aimed at completely restructuring the Perama Ship Repair Zone, demonstrating PPA SA’s ongoing commitment to enhancing facilities and increasing the port’s competitiveness.
PPA S.A. emphasizes that the resumption of the “Piraeus II” floating dock, fully adhering to international safety and functionality standards, marks a significant milestone in strengthening shipbuilding and repair activities, as well as enhancing the operational capacity of the Perama Shipbuilding and Repair Zone and its connection to the Greek market.
This initiative reflects PPA S.A.’s strategy for continuous infrastructure upgrades and bolstering the competitiveness of the Port of Piraeus.
