Following Olympiacos’ 2-0 advantage at SEF, the Euroleague playoff series against Real Madrid has now shifted to Madrid.
Giorgos Bartzokas’ squad is set to play at 22:00 in Madrid. A victory would elevate their lead to 3-0, securing their spot in the Final Four scheduled for May 23 to 25 in Abu Dhabi.
However, Olympiacos will be missing Evan Fournier (right ankle hematoma), Tyler Dorsey (right biceps hamstring strain), and Keenan Evans.
In contrast, Real Madrid is at full strength and aims for a home win to narrow the series to 2-1, paving the way for another game on Friday in the Spanish capital.
When asked about Olympiacos’ strategy for Game 3, Giorgos Bartzokas mentioned: “We aim to improve defensively compared to the first ten minutes of the last game, stay cohesive, fight for the win, and manage some minor injury issues. We hope these won’t affect our player availability.”
On Real’s home performance, he added: “I don’t believe it varies for any team. They are skilled and experienced, and their crowd is particularly demanding, but this is true across all European arenas. We had the chance to win there during the regular season by playing well. We need to replicate that and perform to the best of our abilities to succeed. It’s essential we capitalize on any advantages provided by Real and manage our emotions, staying balanced and composed throughout the game.”
Chus Mateo responded: “Absolutely, we can defeat them. I firmly believe we have the capability. If we play well, as we have recently, we’ll have our opportunities. Each match is unique and important. I have faith in a comeback. The only thing I won’t accept is a lack of fighting spirit. Our goal, motivation, effort, and dedication are crucial. Can we reach the Final Four? Without a doubt! The excitement, hope, and belief remain as strong as ever.”
