Today, Qatar announced it had summoned Iran’s ambassador to Doha, Ali Salehabadi, following an Iranian missile attack on a US base within its borders. The Foreign Ministry condemned the attack and emphasized the need to avoid escalation and return to diplomatic solutions.
The Foreign Ministry reiterated Qatar’s strong condemnation of the assault on Al-Udeid Air Base and stated that it “reserves the right to respond,” according to their official statement.
In a related development, Iran’s deputy foreign minister expressed gratitude to Qatar for its “constructive role” in de-escalating tensions in the region, according to Iran’s News Agency.
Minister Majid Takhtravanchi delivered this message during a phone conversation with Qatari government spokesman Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Hulaifi in the wake of the Iranian attack on the US base in Qatar.
“Iran is committed to strengthening relations between the two nations based on good neighborliness and mutual interests,” Takhtravanchi stated, as reported.
