Russia has consistently conveyed to Israel that Iran does not intend to pursue nuclear weapons, according to an interview with Vladimir Putin reported by the Russian news agency RIA Novosti.
In the same discussion, Putin reaffirmed Moscow’s stance against the spread of weapons of mass destruction and the potential for Iran to acquire such capabilities.
Nonetheless, he emphasized Russia’s support for Iran’s right to develop nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, noting that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has found no evidence of Tehran’s intentions to create nuclear arms.
Additionally, Putin stated that Russia is prepared to assist Iran in advancing its civilian nuclear program.
