In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Nikos Plakias, whose two children were victims of the Tempi disaster, criticized SYRIZA president Sokratis Famelios for what he perceived as political opportunism regarding the dismissal of Kostas Genidounias from Hellenic Train.
Plakias directly addressed Famelios, stating: “Perhaps @SFamellos, you’re not fully aware. If he was cognizant of the issues that persisted for so many years, why didn’t he resign immediately after the tragedy (referring to Kostas Genidounias)? Why did he continue in his role? And why was he still receiving payment from those responsible for my children’s deaths? There’s a significant amount of money involved, Sokratis!!!”

Continuing, Plakias accused the SYRIZA MP of leveraging his position for political advantage: “But your position is clearly advantageous for pursuing political benefits. Shame on you!!! If you understood this individual’s involvement in the Tempi tragedy, you would feel embarrassed to make such claims. Is this a ‘cleanup’ for Spirtzis? A ‘cleanup’ for Genidounias too? From me, no one will receive a blank check.”
