Just a few hours after securing their spot in the Final Four in Abu Dhabi, Alek Peters, Saibin Li, and Yiannoulis Larenztakis spoke with OlympiacosBC TV about their recent victory over Real Madrid and their aspirations for the remainder of the season.
When American forward Alek Peters was asked about the road ahead, particularly with two Euroleague games still to play, he stated: “We have a game coming up on Sunday (note: in the Basket League semifinals against AEK), so I can’t speak for everyone else, but we’re focused on another competition. Yes, we still have two Euroleague games ahead of us. The exciting part about the Final Four is that anything can happen. All four teams have a chance, and it will come down to who plays their best during that weekend. We have plenty of basketball left in both competitions.”
Saibin Li expressed his excitement, saying: “It’s incredible. This will be my first Final Four in my first year with the team, which makes it especially thrilling. We have a fantastic group of guys, and I can’t wait to see what’s next.”
Reflecting on the challenging match against Real Madrid, he mentioned: “It was a tough journey, with two difficult games. We had to elevate our game and finish the series to secure our Final Four spot. But the work isn’t over; we need to finish strong in Abu Dhabi.”
Lastly, Yiannoulis Larenztakis emphasized that their objective remains to win the trophy: “This is a significant achievement, and we’re very happy. I believe we deserve this opportunity after demonstrating great consistency over the years, which has rightfully brought us to the Final Four.”
When reflecting on a critical moment during the match, he said: “Whenever you play against Real Madrid and the game comes down to the wire, certain shots stick with you. That one moment hurt us in the past, but thankfully, it didn’t go in this time, and we celebrated our qualification for the Final Four.”
On the importance of their ongoing efforts, he added: “Exactly, the job isn’t finished. This year, our team is built to win the Euroleague—nothing less. Our sole focus is on the title, and we must be ready to fight for it.”
Discussing their success over the past few years, he noted: “Daily commitment plays a crucial role. Health and hard work are key ingredients. We function like a family, supporting one another. Despite the ups and downs, we’ve always maintained a positive outlook for Olympiacos.”
