Opinion survey for the farmers’ markets at the 1st Conference held by the Organization of Farmers’ Markets of the Region of Attica 

This event commemorates the proclamation by the Regional Council of Attica on May 18 as the Day of Farmers’ Markets. It marks the inauguration of the first popular market in Thiseio by Eleftherios Venizelos in 1929, which has since become a vital part of Greek society. These markets provide consumers with direct access to fresh, affordable products, allow producers to sell directly to the public, create job opportunities, and foster social interaction and community connections.

At the conference, Mr. Stratos Fanaras, CEO of METRON ANALYSIS, will present a groundbreaking opinion survey examining the social and economic significance of farmers’ markets. This is the first time such a survey has been conducted. Participants include consumers, local mayors, and vendors.

The discussion will also address key issues facing the 271 weekly popular markets in 62 municipalities across Attica, which employ over 15,000 workers and attract hundreds of thousands of consumers seeking food and other supplies.
