The Greek Minister of Defence, Nikos Dendias, will be traveling to France tomorrow, June 4, accompanied by Chief of the General Staff General Demetrios Houpis and Chief of the Hellenic Navy General Staff Vice Admiral Demetrios-Etheltherios Kataras. They will attend the launch ceremony for the frigate HS Formion.
With the launch of the third FDI frigate, the initial order for the first three Belh@rra (FDI) frigates is entering its concluding phase, with delivery expected to be completed in 2026.
The frigate HS Kimon recently finished the first stage of its sea trials and is set to be delivered to the navy in December, followed by the HS Nearchos and HS Formion in the spring and autumn of next year.
After the summer, HS Kimon is anticipated to sail to Brest for weapon installations and testing. Following this, she will move to the Salamis Naval Station.
