DryDel Shipping is advancing its fleet modernization initiative with the announcement of a contract for the construction of a 64,000 DWT Ultramax bulk carrier at the prestigious Japanese shipyard Nihon Shipyard Co., Ltd. (Imabari Shipbuilding Co., Ltd.).
This new vessel marks the tenth addition to the company’s current program and is slated for delivery in 2028. DryDel CEO Costas Delaportas expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration with Imabari Shipbuilding, emphasizing that this investment underscores the company’s dedication to sustainability and quality.
“Despite the current challenges in the market, I am excited to welcome another high-caliber ship from the esteemed Imabari Shipbuilding, reinforcing our long-term commitment to the Japanese shipbuilding industry. I have strong confidence in the future of the dry bulk sector—this vessel exemplifies our forward-looking strategy. Each new ship is a strategic investment in our future and a vital part of our fleet modernization efforts,” said Delaportas.
