Following a meeting at the Ministry of Health, the Prime Minister visited a hospital alongside Adonis Georgiadis to observe the implementation of a pilot program for digital patient tracking in the Emergency Department.
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis toured the General Hospital of Athens “Evangelismos,” where he received an update from hospital director Tasos Grigopoulos regarding the newly launched pilot project aimed at monitoring cases within the Emergency Department since last week.
With Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis by his side, the Prime Minister engaged with both staff and patients, learning about the patient journey—from obtaining an individual ticket at the patient movement office to the triage area, where cases are categorized by severity and directed to the appropriate physician with the necessary priority.
Each step and examination is documented on a paper tracker issued to the patient at the movement office. This system allows healthcare professionals to access a comprehensive view of the patient’s condition, approved medical interventions, and prescribed medications in real-time.
Moreover, mapping patient movements aims to decrease waiting times and enhance service delivery by gathering accurate, on-the-ground data.
The tracking system is set to expand to 14 additional public hospitals by mid-July, eventually reaching a total of 100 hospitals by January 2026.
