On Thursday at noon, tensions flared at the entrance of the Transport Ministry when it was revealed that the invited delegation for talks did not include SATA President Thimios Liberopoulos.
In light of rising tensions, authorities plan to guide taxi drivers to the designated parking area. Meanwhile, some individuals trying to enter the taxis have allegedly exhibited intimidating behavior.
The Transport Ministry issued a statement addressing the situation:
“An official invitation was sent to a group of taxi representatives to come to the Ministry, where they could present their demands and engage in formal dialogue. However, Mr. Thymios Lymberopoulos was not personally invited due to his history of using verbal aggression and making threats toward Ministry staff. Such behavior is not in line with the values of constructive dialogue and respect for public discourse.”
The Ministry’s statement concluded:
“The individuals present chose not to take part in the proposed dialogue.”
In response, the taxi drivers protesting stated they will remain at the location until they can meet with Transport Minister Kostas Kyranakis. They are encouraging all taxi drivers and owners to assemble at the Ministry to express their concerns.
