Enhancing cooperation in industrial policy, support for SMEs, and innovation is the primary focus of a Memorandum of Understanding signed between Greece’s Ministry of Development and Italy’s Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy.
This memorandum was signed on Monday in Rome during the proceedings of the Supreme Cooperation Council, led by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis of Greece and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
The agreement was finalized by Development Minister Takis Theodoricakos and his Italian counterpart, Antholfo Urso, with the goal of bolstering bilateral cooperation in key strategic areas, including industrial policy, support for small and medium enterprises, and innovation.
In his remarks, Theodoricakos emphasized that “today’s agreement is particularly significant as Greece will take up the EU Presidency in the latter half of 2027, followed by Italy in early 2028. It serves to establish the institutional framework for an already vibrant and effective collaboration between the business and industrial sectors of both nations.”
The Minister of Development also noted that “we are navigating a time when pressing European policy challenges necessitate coordinated responses. It is crucial to spotlight the role of small and medium enterprises in the European dialogue, promoting a unified approach that enhances cohesion and mobilizes local production across all EU regions.”
