An incident involving Zoe Konstantopoulou unfolded earlier today at the Standing Committee on Public Administration, Public Order, and Justice.
While discussing the bill titled “Strengthening Publicity and Transparency in the Printed and Electronic Press,” the president of the Electoral Alliance for Freedom took the floor. For nearly an hour and a half, she launched a fierce critique against the representatives invited to Parliament, blaming them for Greece’s low ranking in press freedom.
Her remarks ignited a strong backlash from government spokesman Pavlos Marinakis, who accused her of berating press representatives for not disseminating her falsehoods and propaganda.
“What transpired today is a grave insult,” Marinakis stated, adding that a tragic scenario has arisen through Ms. Konstantopoulou’s actions, forcing MPs to endure this every time they enter the chamber.
