The Hellenic Police (ELAS) have launched a significant operation early this morning aimed at dismantling a human trafficking and document forgery network.
This ongoing effort involves personnel from the Athens Crimes Investigation and Suppression Division.
Initial reports indicate that police have made at least 12 arrests.
Authorities believe that among those detained is the ring leader, who is said to have operated a large forgery facility in Peristeri.
Additionally, police sources suggest that this network is linked to over 500 cases of illegal migrant trafficking. They reportedly operated four document forgery labs, generating illegal profits estimated to exceed €4 million.
