A ceremony was held for the donation of advanced unmanned V-BAT aircraft to the Supreme Military Command of the Interior and Islands (ASDEN) by the charitable foundation “Athanassios K. Laskaridis.” Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Minister of National Defense Nikos Dendias, and the Chiefs of General Staff were in attendance.
This event occurs during what the Prime Minister has described as the most significant reform of the Greek Armed Forces under the “Agenda 2030,” aimed at enhancing the country’s aerial surveillance and target detection capabilities.
The Minister of National Defense remarked that these systems are integral parts of the comprehensive approach known as the “Achilles’ Shield.”
Mitsotakis expressed gratitude to Panos Laskaridis, calling this an “important donation for the enhancement of our Armed Forces.”
Mitsotakis: “These systems significantly enhance our capabilities”
“The system unveiled today possesses impressive operational capabilities. While the visuals may seem like something from science fiction, they are indeed real. We have made substantial technological advances in aerial surveillance and target detection—progress that cannot be overlooked by the Greek Armed Forces,” the Prime Minister stated.
He added, “Both systems greatly enhance our capabilities. They allow us to familiarize ourselves with the latest technology available. We can test these systems quickly in real situations, enabling us to decide how much further we want to invest in them later. This is the key advantage of these donations: the ability to swiftly acquire, field-test, and evaluate such systems.”
Mitsotakis also took a moment to commend Panos Laskaridis for his ongoing support of the Armed Forces, particularly the Hellenic Navy.
