A significant Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Thrissio Freight Center S.A. and Onex Elefsis Port & Logistics Hub S.A. to enhance the supply chain and its ties to the shipbuilding and repair sectors, in the presence of Minister of Development, Takis Theodorikakos.
This strategic alliance aims to establish Western Attica as a leading hub for trade, innovation, and sustainable development, fostering smart logistics solutions.
The agreement emphasizes optimizing trade and shipbuilding processes while leveraging the advanced infrastructure of the Thriasio Logistics Centre (TLC).
This collaboration focuses on enhancing the supply chain and streamlining trade and shipbuilding efforts, with the shared vision of developing innovative and sustainable logistics solutions. Key elements of the agreement include:
- The creation of a comprehensive supply chain management system utilizing TLC’s infrastructure for the storage, distribution, and transportation of raw materials, equipment, and spare parts to shipyards.
- Facilitation of imports and exports through specialized customs procedures and free trade zones within TLC, aimed at streamlining customs clearance and managing shipbuilding goods efficiently.
- Establishment of a central transit hub for maritime supplies, prioritizing fuel, spare parts, marine equipment, and consumables.
- Advancement of green transport initiatives by integrating rail and road connections from TLC to shipyards, alongside the adoption of electric or hydrogen-powered vehicles for goods transport.
- Promotion of smart logistics through automation and digital innovations, including 5G, IoT, artificial intelligence, Big Data, and Blockchain to enhance supply chain management and oversight.
- Collaborative sharing of expertise in designing and developing logistics infrastructure (warehouses, hubs), with a focus on digital transformation and sustainability.
This partnership reinforces the strategic link between logistics and the shipbuilding sector, while elevating Western Attica’s status as a center for trade, innovation, and sustainable growth.
