Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni spoke via telephone today with Pope Leo IV.
According to a statement from the Italian government, “Italy values and supports the initiatives of the Holy See aimed at ending armed conflicts and fostering peace in regions where dialogue has been overshadowed by violence.”
Meloni emphasized her country’s commitment to collaborating with the Vatican on the ethical development of artificial intelligence for the benefit of humanity. “This important issue was central to Italy’s presidency of the Group of Seven (G7) and was also highlighted by the new pontiff during his meeting with the Cardinals on May 10,” the statement continued.
