Major General Effi Defrin, the spokesperson for the IDF, reported that Israel targeted “the largest uranium enrichment facility in Iran,” specifically the underground nuclear complex located at Natanz.
Defrin stated that this facility was utilized by the Revolutionary Guards to further their military nuclear ambitions, emphasizing that the Israeli strike inflicted “serious damage” to both the underground enrichment site and vital infrastructure. “We targeted the underground complex along with other essential components of the site,” he added.
“We Had No Other Choice”
In a recent emergency briefing, Defrin indicated that the escalation from Tel Aviv was unavoidable, asserting, “there was no other choice.” He highlighted that the military remains on high alert for further attacks, cautioning Israeli citizens about potential retaliation.
“We provided timely warnings to all Israelis, recognizing that our territory could be at risk,” he remarked. He urged the public to maintain “responsibility and calm” amid the developments, noting that “challenging days may be ahead.”
Defrin mentioned that Iran had deployed over 100 drones in response to the Israeli strikes, warning that Tehran possesses both the capability and intention to execute a full-scale counterattack. Nevertheless, he assured that the Israeli military is “fully prepared” to sustain operations “until our objectives are met.”
Earlier, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reported that its measurements indicated no rise in radiation levels in the Natanz region following the attack.
