Today, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew held a meeting at the Vatican with Pope Leo XIV. This meeting was part of the initiatives commemorating the tenth anniversary of Pope Francis‘ encyclical, **Laudato Si’**, which focuses on environmental protection.
Experts point out that the late pope was significantly inspired by the Orthodox leader’s commitment and sensitivity towards respecting and safeguarding our planet, which influenced the creation of this encyclical.
Reports indicate that the new pope and the Ecumenical Patriarch have agreed to meet in Nicaea at the end of November to commemorate the 1,700th anniversary of the First Ecumenical Council.
Additionally, during this trip, the pope is also anticipated to visit Ankara, Constantinople, and the Ecumenical Patriarchate for the Feast of St. Andrew, along with a visit to Ephesus.
