An emergency was declared early Sunday afternoon after a helicopter went down in the waters near Vouliagmeni Marina.
Initial reports indicate that the helicopter had just landed on the marina’s helipad before attempting to take off again. However, mere seconds after lifting off, it unexpectedly crashed for reasons that are currently unclear. The incident sparked alarm among the many swimmers and visitors in the area, and footage shared by protothema.gr shows the crash and the chaos that followed.
The helicopter carried five individuals, all of whom, according to preliminary information, are safe. The group includes four foreign nationals and one Greek, with Mykonos as their intended destination.
