“We are eager to leverage our experience and knowledge. Together, we can pave the way for a peaceful future,” stated Tassos Hadjivassiliou, the Minister of State for Economic Diplomacy and External Relations, during his visit to Kiev.
Leading a business delegation of prominent Greek companies specializing in energy, networks, security, construction, and infrastructure, Hadjivassiliou attended the 1st Greek-Ukrainian Business Forum, which took place following the Russian invasion. He emphasized that this event builds on his prior discussions with members of the Ukrainian government during his March visit, focusing on the nation’s reconstruction and enhanced economic collaboration.
The Deputy Minister reaffirmed Greece’s unwavering support for a defensive Ukraine. He highlighted Greece’s commitment to actively participating in the rebuilding of the country’s essential infrastructure, particularly in the health, energy, and transport sectors.
He also discussed Greek investment prospects in the energy sector, recalling Greece’s significant role in establishing the “Vertical Gas Corridor,” which, alongside infrastructure developments in Alexandroupolis and Revithoussa, will bolster energy security for the broader region, including Ukraine. “Energy independence is crucial for national and regional security,” he stated.
Hadjivassiliou made a special mention of Greek construction and technology firms, noting their extensive experience in international projects. He also encouraged partnerships in the pharmaceutical and medical technology fields.
Concluding his remarks, he urged the international community to intensify efforts for peace and recovery in Ukraine, asserting that “the reconstruction of Ukraine presents an opportunity for shared benefits and could serve as a global model for sustainable recovery.”
During the Forum, he met with Deputy Foreign Minister Yevhen Perebyinis, Deputy Minister of Reconstruction Maryna Denysiuk, and Deputy Minister of Energy Roman Andarak, discussing the readiness of Greek companies to assist in Ukraine’s reconstruction post-conflict.
