In a noteworthy operation, officials from Greece’s Organized Crime Division executed a raid on a residence in Thrakomakedones, leading to the arrest of two individuals on charges linked to illegal firearm and drug possession.
Reports indicate that authorities tracked down the suspects following an investigation that aimed to confirm various complaints and allegations. During the search, law enforcement uncovered a military-style rifle, illegal narcotics, counterfeit license plates, official seals adorned with government insignia, and other dubious materials. One of the suspects was also found to have neglected to update his residence registration as mandated by law due to existing restrictions.
The search, conducted in the presence of a judicial officer, resulted in substantial seizures: a combat rifle with a magazine holding nine rounds, a bulletproof vest, five additional cartridges, 27 grams of raw cannabis, 3.6 grams of cocaine, two precision scales, sixteen drug paraphernalia items, two counterfeit license plates, two official government seals, four rectangular stamps featuring business logos, a fake ID card, and two laptops.
The suspects were subsequently taken to the relevant prosecutor’s office for additional questioning.
Authorities reported that both individuals face numerous charges, including illegal weapon possession, drug trafficking, forgery, and violation of residence regulations.
This operation underscores the persistent efforts of Greek law enforcement to tackle organized crime and disrupt illegal firearm and drug trafficking networks.
