Cosmote Telekom is increasingly implementing a strategy that leverages the competitive strengths of the global Telekom Group, which holds a leading position in the USA and Europe. This strategy focuses on network development and a customer-oriented approach.
Joining the global Telekom brand ecosystem enables Cosmote Telekom to offer innovative services to its subscribers, including access to the AI-powered Perplexity digital assistant and new reward programs providing benefits across all Telekom Group countries.
This integration enhances OTE’s competitive edge, particularly as competition is anticipated to intensify with PPC entering the fiber optic service market for homes and businesses (FTTH).
On the network front, Cosmote Telekom has surpassed 1.8 million FTTH lines, with a goal to reach 2.1 million by the year’s end. The coverage of its 5G network now reaches 99% of the population, while 5GSA (5G Stand Alone) coverage exceeds 70%. Notably, it is the only company in Greece offering a 5GSA network.
Similarly, T-Mobile US, part of the globally recognized “T” brand under the Telekom Group and based in Bellevue, Seattle, is the second largest telecom provider in the US, serving approximately 130 million customers, as shared with the Greek media during a recent OTE press event.
Besides mobile services, T-Mobile US also offers high-speed internet solutions via its expansive 5G network (Fixed Wireless Access – FWA), which reaches 70 million households nationwide. T-Mobile operates as a host network for mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs) and is the sole provider in the US with a 5G Stand-Alone network. For instance, critical services, like the New York Fire Department, utilize T-Mobile US for emergency responses, enjoying priority access even in challenging conditions (T-Priority).
In Greece, Cosmote Telekom has recently launched its FWA service, delivering fast and reliable internet through its 5GSA network in areas lacking fiber infrastructure. The service has already connected 12,000 customers. Soon, FWA will evolve into a complete fixed telephony solution, incorporating voice services.
