Dimitris Koukas, President of the Association of Greek Shipping Shipbroking Companies, emphasized the importance of extroversion, leadership, and strategic unity in Greek shipping during his address at the 9th Naftemporiki Shipping Conference.
In the first panel discussion focused on the Greek shipping cluster, Koukas highlighted Singapore as a prime example of successful public-private partnership in the shipping sector. “Singapore doesn’t just follow trends; it sets them. Their remarkable extroversion leads to significant investments and attracts exceptional talent,” he remarked.
He asserted that while the Greek shipping ecosystem holds great potential, it currently lacks the necessary structure and focus. “We have much work ahead in Greece. We must cultivate extroversion under unified leadership,” he emphasized.
Koukas concluded by noting that Greek shipping benefits from a rich heritage. “We possess the DNA of the industry and are home to the largest number of shipowners, a strength that needs to be harnessed,” he stated.
