Alphington Grammar School is experiencing remarkable growth, marked by record enrollments and expanding waiting lists at all educational levels. Over the last ten years, it has established itself as a premier choice for families looking for a co-educational independent education for their children.

The School prides itself on its academic achievements while emphasizing the pastoral care and well-being of its students. “A solid education foundation allows everyone to succeed,” stated Principal Dr. Vivianne Nikou. “Our students engage with our values and culture through real-world experiences in and outside the classroom.” From the age of three in Kindergarten, students are immersed in Greek language and cultural programs alongside numeracy, literacy, music, physical education, art, and our distinctive Bush Kinder program. They also participate in the Greek Band, Greek Choir, and Greek Dancing across year levels. In Secondary School, all students join the International Gateways program, involving 60 students and 8 staff visiting Turkey, Gallipoli, and Greece, alongside an exchange with Voula High School in Athens and collaboration with a bilingual kindergarten in Ioannina.

“As student numbers increase, the School Council is committed to furthering the phased strategic development of the site. By the start of the 2026 academic year, we will introduce a purpose-built facility featuring six classrooms, additional staff areas, counselors’ offices, and the relocation of the Hellenic Heritage Center,” said Mr. Michael Karamitos, Chair of the School Council.

“This new infrastructure is essential for the ongoing success of Alphington Grammar. The upgraded classrooms will provide better ventilation and modern furniture and technology, thereby enhancing student comfort, focus, and academic performance. Additionally, the school’s growth reflects its excellent standards and strong reputation. This development will also support teacher morale and retention by providing a comfortable teaching environment. It signifies our commitment to community engagement and outreach,” commented GCM President Bill Papastergiadis, OAM.

The Greek Community has endorsed the ongoing strategic development of Alphington Grammar School. The Foundation members must be proud of the visionary decision made 36 years ago to create a school that embraces its cultural heritage in such an innovative manner.
