A lesser-known chapter of the iconic Queen frontman Freddie Mercury’s life is unfolding with the release of a new biography, set to create waves in the music and entertainment industry.
The Daily Mail reports that the book, entitled “Love, Freddie,” by Lesley-Ann Jones, reveals that Mercury had a daughter, whose existence he kept hidden and known only to a select few.

A Well-Kept Secret Known to Only a Few
Freddie Mercury’s daughter was known only to a handful of individuals—his family, Queen bandmates, and Mary Austin, whom he referred to as the love of his life. She was conceived in 1976 during a brief affair with a close friend’s wife.

She Resides in Europe, Works as a Doctor, and Has Her Own Family
British media reports that his daughter, referred to only by the initial “B,” is now 48, living in Europe, and practicing as a doctor. She is also a mother. The biography is based on Mercury’s personal journals, which he entrusted to the author shortly before his passing from AIDS-related pneumonia in 1991.
Staying Out of the Spotlight
B shared her story exclusively with the author, expressing that she was raised with love and was always aware of her father’s identity.
She remarked: “He cherished me and was committed to our bond. Though my birth circumstances may be unconventional, they never diminished his love.” The book includes a heartfelt letter from B, illustrating their emotional connection.

A Caring Father and a Private Arrangement
Lesley-Ann Jones stated that B reached out to her three years ago, not seeking fame or financial gain. While she is not named in Mercury’s will, her interests were protected through a discreet legal agreement. According to Jones, B was raised by her mother and stepfather, and Mercury maintained a personal space in their home, having daily conversations with her while on tour.
Freddie Mercury’s romantic life included relationships with both men and women. His most notable relationship was with Mary Austin, with whom he lived and was engaged until he came out as gay; despite this, they remained close until his death. He also had significant relationships with women, including actress Barbara Valentin, as well as with his daughter’s mother, a relationship kept mostly under wraps.
