The 61-year-old climber tragically lost his life when he fell into a ravine while hiking with a friend in the Fraktos forest in Drama.
Investigations revealed through a forensic examination that there were no signs of a bear attack, contrary to claims by his companion at the scene.
The autopsy, completed this morning, confirmed that the man died from injuries sustained in the fall. His body exhibited multiple fractures, including injuries to the thoracic and cervical spine, spinal cord damage, broken ribs, and significant internal bleeding, with 2.5 liters of blood found in the thoracic cavity.
Additionally, there were no indicators of an animal attack, such as claw marks or bite marks.
One theory suggests that the climber may have encountered the bear, got startled, and slipped, leading to his fall, but the forensic evidence shows no prior contact with the animal before the incident.
