Dr. Nawaf Salameh, the renowned Syrian physician and Philhellene, has sadly passed away.
He was especially celebrated for his admiration of Greece and Alexander the Great. In recent years, he had been working on plans for the establishment of the first production facility for agricultural ethyl alcohol (pure ethanol) in Kavala.
According to kavalanews.gr, this facility was set to produce approximately 30 million liters each year, generating over 100 job opportunities. The initial phase of investment was projected to exceed 35 million euros, with total investments from the Alexandrion group anticipated to surpass 100 million euros over the next decade.
Founded by Dr. Salameh, this group is headquartered in Romania and stands as the country’s largest producer of wines and alcoholic beverages.
Regarding the Kavala investment, he remarked: “We chose Greece for this substantial investment because of the deep affection my entire family has for the country. After completing my medical studies in Romania, I had my degree recognized in Greece and worked for a period at Gennimatas Hospital. My children were born in Greece and hold Greek citizenship. My group’s name also reflects my passion for Alexander the Great.”
His family shared the news of his passing on social media.
