The board of directors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is scheduled to hold an extraordinary meeting on Monday, prompted by the recent Israeli strikes on nuclear facilities, as reported by diplomats to Reuters and Agence France-Presse.
This meeting will commence at 10:00 local time (11:00 GMT) in Vienna, where the IAEA is based, according to diplomatic sources shared during the governing board’s session.
Under its operational rules, any country represented on the board can call for a meeting. Although Iran is not a board member, it initiated the request for a meeting, which received support from Russia, China, and Venezuela, according to diplomats.
Earlier today, IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi expressed his readiness to visit Iran to evaluate the situation following Israel’s extensive military strikes on the expanding nuclear facility at Natanz.
