His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew has expressed profound sorrow on behalf of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in response to the recent terrorist attack at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Holy Prophet Elijah in Dwel’a, Damascus. During a phone call on Sunday evening with His Beatitude Patriarch John I of Antioch, the Ecumenical Patriarch, currently visiting the United Kingdom, condemned the attack, stressing that terrorism—especially targeting places of worship—attacks the peaceful coexistence of diverse peoples, faiths, and cultures.
His All-Holiness prayed for the souls of the innocent victims and extended heartfelt condolences and sympathy to their families. He also expressed wishes for the rapid recovery of the injured.
