In the early hours, a drone strike targeted a military base in southern Iraq, according to two security sources speaking to Agence France-Presse. This attack came shortly after a similar incident at another base close to Baghdad.
The drone specifically hit the communications center at Imam Ali air base in Dhi Qar province, resulting in material damage, as noted by one source who requested anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the issue.
Prior to this, a drone attack aimed at anti-aircraft radars took place at a military base in Taji, located north of Baghdad. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and Iraqi officials have not identified the perpetrators of the attack.
“A drone of unknown origin struck the radars, and another drone crashed near a generator,” explained General Saad Maan, spokesman for the Iraqi security forces. Earlier, Operations Chief for the Baghdad area, Walid al-Tamimi, had commented on the Taji base raid.
