U.S. President Donald Trump has clarified that he is unsure whether Russian President Vladimir Putin will be attending. Trump mentioned, “He would like me to be there, and that’s a possibility… I don’t know if he will attend if I’m not there. We’ll find out,” while speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One en route to Qatar.
The Republican president has indicated he may visit Turkey as part of his Middle East tour.
Zelensky Urges Trump’s Attendance in Turkey
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky invited Trump to Istanbul for tomorrow, believing that his presence could encourage Putin to agree to a one-on-one meeting aimed at negotiating an end to the conflict.
Currently, Zelensky is accusing Putin of not wanting to end the war but remains committed to facilitating the high-level meeting tomorrow. “If President Trump confirms his attendance, I believe it will give Putin further incentive to participate,” Zelensky stated from Kyiv on Tuesday evening.
