What charges do the six arrested individuals face?
The Athens Public Prosecutor’s Office has brought criminal charges against six individuals involved in an attack at the Athens Law School, which resulted in the injury of a doctoral student on April 30, 2025.
The specific charges include: serious intentional bodily harm (a felony), forming a criminal organization, disrupting a public service, engaging in illegal violence, damaging property used for public benefit, disobedience, possession of weapons, and refusal to undergo forensic examination.

Additionally, one suspect who is yet to be arrested faces misdemeanor charges for harboring a criminal.
It is important to note that the case file includes three additional suspects whose identities have not yet been determined. Following the charges against the six, they have been referred to a prosecutor for further investigation, who will allocate time for them to prepare their defenses.
The 25-year-old coordinator, four students, and the 29-year-old doctor involved in the escape
The ages of the six individuals arrested in connection with the Law School attack range from 19 to 31 years.
Four of the suspects have identified themselves as students, while the 25-year-old, who played a key role in executing the attack, obstructed the investigation when authorities searched his residence.

According to police reports, the 25-year-old served as the “leader” of the group, orchestrating the attack and providing situational awareness throughout. He also performed reconnaissance, coordinated the escape of other members, and monitored the area.
The case file also includes three individuals yet to be identified, one of whom purchased surgical masks for the group prior to the attack.
Among the arrested is a 29-year-old doctor who assisted a 22-year-old member of the group in fleeing after the assault.
The six individuals face charges for—depending on the circumstances—forming a criminal organization (gang), aimed at intentionally committing felonies and misdemeanors that threaten life, bodily integrity, and property; disrupting official functions; causing severe bodily harm; committing illegal violence; and damaging public property without provocations from victims, as well as violating weapons laws and disobedience.
Police announcement regarding the arrests linked to the Law School attack
The Anti-Racism and Extreme Violence Sub-Directorate of the Attica Crimes Division arrested six individuals, aged 19, 22, 23, 25, and 31, on May 13, 2025, for their involvement in the attack during a pre-scheduled event at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, which resulted in injury to a bystander.
The charges filed against them include—depending on the situation—forming a criminal organization (gang) to jointly commit felonies and misdemeanors intended to harm life, bodily integrity, property, or assets; disrupting public services; severe bodily harm; illegal violence; and damaging public property, as well as violations related to weapons and disobedience.
The case file also includes three other individuals not yet identified, plus a 29-year-old woman charged with harboring criminals and obstructing justice.
Through the investigation, supported by gathered information, data, and witness statements, it was determined that the suspects formed a structured criminal organization with carefully planned actions and defined roles, aimed at committing crimes like severe bodily harm and service disruption, as well as illegal violence and property damage within the university.
The roles of the organization members are summarized as follows:
- A 25-year-old who was the key figure in the organization (gang), directing the group of attackers and acting as an observer, providing information at all phases of the assault. He also scouted the area at various times, coordinated and facilitated the escape of accomplices, and conducted external surveillance.
- Another individual, still unidentified, supplied surgical masks to other members prior to the attack, allowing them to evade identification.
- The remaining defendants were involved directly in executing the attack. A 29-year-old woman aided the escape of a 22-year-old member by providing transportation.
Searches conducted across residences, vehicles, and other locations, as well as suspects’ possessions, resulted in the following confiscated items:
- Clothing
- 5 anti-fog masks
- Various anarchist-related stickers, flyers, and printed materials
- 17 mobile phones
- 5 computers, 4 laptops, and 4 USB drives
- 2 hard drives and 3 gaming consoles
- 2 tablets and 3 SIM cards
- A camera with a memory card
- 4 motorcycle helmets
- 6 full-face masks
- Coveralls, knives, and metal cutters
- Handwritten notes and numerous photocopies
- 5 pairs of gloves
- A multi-purpose bag containing various items including knee pads, gloves, and fire extinguishers
It is noted that four of the arrested individuals identified themselves as students, while the 25-year-old, who had a key role in the organization, obstructed the investigation despite being aware of the ongoing police scrutiny.
